How big are the Yurts?
Our Large Yurts are 20 feet in diameter and sleep up to 6 persons. The Group Yurt can sleep up to 8, but is only available off peak. Our medium size yurts are 18 feet in diameter and sleep up to 4. Our small Yurt is 16 feet in diameter and sleep 2 plus a cot or camp bed if required.
What do I sleep on?
Each yurt has a full size bed. Additional sleeping spaces are provided in the form of futons which can be folded up to provide seating during the day if required. All beds have unique hand printed sheets (if requested), good quality duvets and extra blankets are on offer if required. Plus your log burner will keep you cosy if it's wet and windy.
Do I have to bring my own bed linen?
We supply bed linen and towels (but not beach towels), please see our price table for more information. We strongly suggest you use our linen to enable us to keep our beds clean and fresh.
Is there any traffic noise?
We are located in a living working landscape, but we are not situated near any main roads, just single country lanes. We are pretty much surrounded by agricultural land so there is farm traffic noise during the day from time to time. However, the vast majority of our visitors find it peaceful (especially once the sun has gone down).
Can I get reception on my mobile phone?
Yes, you shouldn't have any problems on our site.
Do you have internet access?
Yes we have WI FI if needed.
Is there a television on site?
No, but you are welcome to charge and use your laptop to watch films etc.
How do I see at night?
Each yurt is lit by 12volt lighting and safe lanterns. We also have subtle solar lighting along key pathways and enterances. It would be wise to bring your own torch as the countryside can be beautifully dark at night, and we prefer not to pollute the night sky with bright flood lighting.
What are the facilities on site?
We have composting toliets (clean and well cared for), a fully equipt shared kitchen, hot showers. There is also a reception / chill out lounge area with visitor informatoin and indoor games. Please go to 'Yurt Camping > Facilities' for more details.
Whats provided inside the Yurt?
Everything you need except all your groceries. We suggest you pick most of these up before you arrive. However, we do have some basic supplies and fresh produce available onsite. The best place for any last minute supplies is Ashby's Easy Store in East Charlton, a bit further on from there you can purchase fresh local veg from The Tuckers' Veg Shed. The Piglets Stores in East Prawle also stocks essential items but they are only open seasonally. We promote locally sourced and naturally grown produce. Kingsbridge has two great health food shops, as well as grocers, butchers and two bakeries. Please try to support our local business and high street if possible.
What do we cook on?
We prefer our visitors to do their cooking in the shard kitchen rather than on their stove. Outside fire braziers are allowed and some are available on request.
Is there a BBQ, fire pit and braizer?
We provide a BBQ outside the communal kitchen cabin. There is also a fire pit and a braizer. You are welcome to use these or bring your own.
Do you allow for group bookings?
We can cater for small groups in our Group Yurt, and are working towards being able to cater for wedding events, corporate bookings and most other group events. Please check with us if you would like to book part of, or the whole site.
Can my friends come and stay with me for a few days?
If you have friends or family in the area they are welcome to visit High Nature during the daytime but an overnight stay incurs additional charges as per our booking conditions.
Can I bring my dog?
We allow well behaved dogs at High Nature, but they must be kept on a lead whilst on site. Dog waste is to be taken care of appropriately (please enquire about our proceedure). We charge an extra £10 for dogs. Please let us know in advance if you wish to bring your dog, thank you.
Is the site suitable for young children and babies?
Lots of people have visited the site with very young children. Babies & toddlers seem to love the yurts. We can supply travel cots, high chairs, baby baths and potties if required. Please reserve these when you make your booking.
Are the cars parked off site?
No, we have a secure car park on site. Cars are not allowed in the main yurt area, but you can transport your luggage to your yurt using our High Nature wheel barrows.
Can you lock a Yurt?
No, our yurts are not lockable at present (although we plan to change this for Summer 2015, please enquire when booking). You are able to leave valuables with us at reception. We also suggest you leave unnecessary valuables at home.
Can you smoke in the yurt?
No, all our yurts are non-smoking. If you wish to smoke, please do so outside and dispose of your waste appropriately (in the outside braziers or BBQs preferably)..
